PLAYGROUND POEMS

“Storytellers broaden our minds: engage, provoke, inspire, and ultimately, connect us.” – Robert Redford.

Turns out I’m a poetry NERD! People don’t make money from publishing poetry really, unless they’re really famous, so I figured I’d just share a few of my very own, most recent, original poems below for pure enjoyment (hopefully):

PLAYGROUND POEMS

by Carrie Robinson

**

To Time:

I am a commodity

A collection of widgets

Shares can be bought

Viewing…

Dialing…

Pieces of time.

A collection of widgets

Creating pieces and parts

To Sell and to Share

Who sells sea shells

Who?

commodity; my time?

I will not sell my shares.

I will not buy my Time.

Time; love moves my limbs.

Whistling…

Time carries moments

to moments to moments

**

I Felt A Summons

I felt a summons I could not touch

Or conjunct with

But its form; I could tie

Residing and rising

A match

Staking a hold

Omitting the dark in me.

**

Stay Me Praying?

let’s play

wounded

are you staying?

are we playing?

wounding

praying

I’ll play

healing

wounded players

are we staying

soldiers playing?

have me

test me

stay me praying?

**

Dickinson Freedom

my poem

freely

contains

what’s in a box?

what’s in a name?

pin box

point at the

location

jab it out

accurately

and sweep

how a box

grasps at all things

momentarily

lasting

under your lid

open my poem

**

Inside Your Name

name

just a name

sounding

like your name

your name

inside

sounds

like raising

corners

of my mouth

I like your name

call me your name

tell me your soul

as you smile

I could show you

your name

lifting me

**

(not a poem)

I AM (not) a…

cat,

(a cat knows a cat)

dog,

(a dog knows a dog)

bird,

(a bird knows a bird)

weeping willow,

(a tree roots to a tree)

because he or she

said so to her or him

or because I heard them

and I was meant to

purr…

wag…

fly…

grow…

pointed references

working metaphors

on my mind

(not my heart)

i am

(reduced)

human,

(a HUMAN knows a HUMAN)
